Created in Vallauris during the late 19th century, this vibrant earthenware piece exemplifies the rich, lustrous glazes, naturalistic floral motifs, and sculptural quality that define Massier majolica ceramics. This vase is signed on the inside of the foot “Delphin Massier Vallauris AM”, confirming its authenticity and origin. About Delphin Massier
Delphin Massier (1836–1907) was a leading member of the renowned Massier family of ceramists in Vallauris, France. Active during the French ceramics revival of the late 19th century, he helped elevate Vallauris pottery to international recognition. Massier specialized in majolica, barbotine ware, and richly glazed earthenware, often inspired by botanical themes and the emerging Art Nouveau movement. His works are highly prized by collectors for their technical mastery, luminous glazes, and naturalistic elegance, making them some of the finest examples of 19th-century French decorative ceramics.
