Maximilien FIOT, The Flight of the Ducks, Bronze Sculpture, Early 1920s

Couple of ducks flying on ocean waves, Bronze - Ref 09414

by Maximilien FIOT (1886-1953)

France, Early 1920s

Lost wax bronze - Double Rodin patina (black tinged with green)

Here is the famous and rare sculpture of ducks taking flight on the waves of the ocean by Maximilien Fiot. This lost wax bronze sculpture, edited by the prestigious the Susse Brothers' foundry (Rodin, Giacometti, etc), is very rare today in its integrity. Indeed, this work has always shown a structural weakness in the fine link between the ducks and the wave. This is why we most often find today the ducks placed on a wooden, glass or marble base added and replacing the original wave. The opportunity to find this work in its integrity is therefore very rare today. We are very happy to present it to you here

Height : 21.2"(53.8cm), Width : 23.8"(60.4cm), Depth : 16.9"(43cm)

Signed "M.Fiot" and marked "Susse Fes Edts Paris" on the base (see photos)

Excellent+++++ condition !
