LARGE FRENCH ART NOUVEAU VASE - Ref 07914
by DAUM (Nancy)
France, 1910-1915
Rosehip flowers
Large double-blown glass vase in the shape of a baluster shouldered with an open neck, decorated with wild rose flowers
When we manage to find this decoration, it is generally on a similar baluster shape with the exception of the neck which is closing. Here the neck opens into a corolla which gives the vase a more welcoming and majestic shape, more in relation to the theme
The purple, brown, yellow, orange and fuchsia enamels are vitrified between the two layers and constitute the background of the decoration
The decoration drawn in Judean bitumen was then applied to the vase and released in an acid bath. The background shows on the surface the small bites of the acid which give it a mineral dimension of the most beautiful effect
Finally, the cameo parts were decorated with enamel, with remarkable hues and reflections, by the hands of the exceptional artists of this remarkable Maison at the beginning of the 20th century
Height: 20.3"(51.5cm), Diameter: 6.3"(16cm)
Enameled signature "Daum Nancy + France" on the shield, which dates this piece to between 1910 and 1915
