MUSEAL ART DECO VASE by Charles CATTEAU Kéramis, La Louvière, Belgium - 1933 STONEWARE Design D.1792 - Form F.1054 This vase is very interesting for several reasons : - The design made in 1933 is extremely rare. Marc Pairon in his book Art Deco Ceramics made in Belgium - Charles Catteau, the reference book about Charles Catteau, rates the rarity of this design as ***** : extremely rare or one-of-a-kind piece, so the highest level of the rarity scale ! - The form created in 1929 is rare too. Very pure with its large belt, three rounded stairs above and two other ones below - We know only one other vase with the design D.1792 applied on a simplier form (F960). It was in the Yves Saint-Laurent - Pierre Bergé's collection. This vase is illustrated in the Marc Pairon's book at page #462 in a matt enamel version - So the shiny treatment of the cover of this vase was unknown by us. It gives this piece a very pure and elegant look Height : 32cm (12.6 inches), Width : 20cm (7.9 inches) The condition is PERFECT ! Marked under the base : "Gres Keramis" "Ch. Catteau" "D.1792" "1054" "C" with the Kéramis's stamp |
